Officer George Griffith worked for Ruan Transportation for nearly 20 years before he began his career in law enforcement in 1986. He began as a Reserve Officer with the City of Des Moines and then transferred to the Urbandale Police Department before becoming a full time Officer in 1996. He started his career in the Patrol Division serving in various capacities, such as a Motorcycle Officer, Emergency Response Team member, and Bike Patrol Officer. He later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division and served six years as a Detective. Currently, Officer Griffith is assigned to the Administrative Division where he is responsible for all property, evidence and impounds. He was awarded Urbandale’s Officer of the Year in 2009 and he holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Iowa State and an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from DMACC.
Officer Griffith welcomes the opportunity of advancing the overall professionalism of Iowa Law Enforcement with the IPOA Board. Officer Griffith received unanimous support from the members present at the 2013 IPOA Conference on April 23, 2013.
Officer Griffith serves on the Legislative and Conference & Training Committees for the IPOA.
