Police Chief

POLICE CHIEF

 

City of Grinnell, Iowa (9,200), a civil service community, seeks Chief of Police to manage and lead the activities of a 17-member department.  The ideal candidate will have a successful record of progressively responsible supervisory experience and graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major coursework in police administration or related field.  Minimum five years experience with a public law enforcement agency, or three years comparable experience in public law enforcement and two years of comparable experience or educational training.  Requires possession of or ability to obtain certification as a law enforcement officer by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy within 12 months after appointment.  Pre-employment physical including drug and psychological testing.   The Grinnell community values service, complete objectivity, integrity, responsibility, innovation, teamwork, community policing, and organization.  East central Iowa historic college community included in 100 best places to live in America.  Annual salary range is $60,000 to $77,000 plus a generous benefit package.
